Happy Birthday.

I lost my father this week; we had spoken maybe 3 times in 30 years.

He was a doctor, a brilliant physician with a kind heart. He was also an addict and filled with rage.

He made his choices, his decisions, his wishes and left this world with no notice to anyone.

He never really knew his sons or his grandchildren;

I guess I always thought I'd have more time to build a bridge rather than to continue to watch it burn.

I was wrong.

Now, all that's left is the residue of all the things we never said, and all the time we'll never have...

..and the anger we both shared.
